It’s going to be 2018 — take a deep breath, we’ve got this. If you’re feeling like us and wondering where 2017 went, there’s no need to panic. It’s been a big year full of changes from self-growth to fashion. We’re here to tell you it’s okay if you didn’t end up completing all your 2017 resolutions. Change is a continuous process and it’s better to do the best we can as we go. If that means taking a breather then take it, it’s important!
There are some amazing new hairstyles and colour choices to look forward to in 2018. And what’s beautiful about hair is that it’s an easy change to make. As always, we’re big supporters of Davines and sustainability, two things that are always on our list. Check out what’s new below:
Curl Movement — Luckily the new era of hair is all about embracing natural texture and rockin’ what your mama gave you. “2018 is all about upping the ante and getting those curls bigger and even better. Leave the relaxer at home and embrace your kinks and coils – curly girls this is your year.” Curls and embracing who you are in your natural state are two huge things we can seriously get behind. Rockin’ your curls can be scary, especially if you’re not used to them. If that’s the case, we highly recommend booking in with your local Davines salon. A stylist can get you the right cut and teach you some techniques to look fresh, not frazzled.
Headscarves — Headscarves always make us think of old Hollywood glamour, especially anything to do with convertibles. Luckily this look has made a serious comeback with models sporting headscarves between magazine pages and runways. The nice thing about this accessory is how versatile it is. It can be worn numerous different ways and if you snatch your mother or grandmother’s old scarves, they can be inexpensive too.
Ribbons Galore — Another accessory that has made its return is ribbons! A basic black ribbon, especially of the velvet variety, is a big hit for 2018. Get on trend by accessorizing your braid, ponytail or bun with one of these beauties.

School Girl Braids — Braids have made a serious resurgence! Whether you’re rocking boxer girl braids at the gym or a sweet single braid down your back, there’s a braid for everyone. Shorter hair types can try braided crowns or french braids for a chic look. For those long locks, try more complicated braid patterns à la Game of Thrones.

The Knot Pony — We love this take on the classic but sometimes boring ponytail. This is a great look for a variety of hair types and textures too! “Twist hair into a knot and instead of pinning ends up let them fly free!”
Enjoy your start to 2018, lovelies! More blogs from our team are coming your way soon.
