Show Notes and Tips
This April Davines salons will be focusing on a full month dedicated sustainable beauty. In the past years it was Sustainable Beauty Day, then week, and now a whole month !!
In 2010 Davines wanted to generate synergies between business’ and the environment.
The first SBD was held in Italy then in the US, Canada and France.
Sustainable beauty day consisted of a day of providing services all by donation with the proceeds going to the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation. With the money raised they would plant fruit trees in impoverished villages in a different parts of the world each year.
Each year the goals were increased and exceeded tremendously: In Canada in in the US in 2011 over $25,000 was raised in 2012 $62,000 was raised by 80 salons.
This year Davines has encouraged salons to continue to contribute to the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation or if you would like to local charities and non-profits for the betterment of their local communities. They encourage salons to discover new and exciting ways to raise money for local causes.
Not only is this an amazing way to get back to your community but this is also free advertising. Use this is a tool to raise excitement for your local cause in the community and excite your staff.
Marketing Ideas of your event:
- Postcard or thank-you card to the clients who come in and then can pass it on to fellow co-workers and friends.
- Posters on Coffeeshop bulletin boards.
- Media release to local tv, radio, newspaper for support of your event.
- Invite local media personalities especially people from your community.
- Educate your staff and get them talking about with their clients.
- Create shelf talkers and mirror clings to spread the word on your event and encourage your clients to share your event on social media.
- Create a page on your website to link to your event on your Sustainable Initiatives Page. This way you can be driving traffic to your website and communicating your initiatives to your current and prospective clients. Creating a Facebook Event is a great way to get the word out through invites and conversations with local businesses.
- Remember to write a blog about your event in order to increase your Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
- Use language like “Salon presents for SBM in partnership with etc…” in order to make sure people notice that you are the ones putting on the event.
- Have a booth that communicates your environmental stance at your event
- Get your Green Circle Salons stats on your recycling to display them on a poster. Maybe they will print them for you !!
- Connect with a local sustainability agency that are consultants in communicating your environmental stance like Synergy Enterprises. http://www.synergyenterprises.ca
- Have hair models at the event that are hosts
- Silent auctions are great way to connect you to other sustainable focused businesses in your local area. Send them a thank you letter and a $20 dollars gift card in order to drive business to your salon. Ask for local businesses and silent auction supporters to put a link on their website for your event and to share the info on Social Media.
- Remember you can send your comments and questions to The Salon Movement moved by Davines !!! info@TheSalonMovement.com
